Well, I must agree. I am done with this app and I feel like a fool for telling my friends about it too.

What part of vgsmail are you 'done with'? As far as I can tell, vgsmail works for most users.

Having just purchased this, I feel like disputing the charges...no wonder the trial is only three days.

The trial is 7 days. And why would you 'dispute' them? vgsmail is what you trialed and you chose to purchase it presumably based on your trial. Did it suddenly change?

It is just terrible to take money for a program that is not production worthy (with the promise of making it so) and then just plain ignoring it.

Again, I'm not sure why you bought a license if you didn't consider it 'production worthy'. And what 'promise'?

Thanks for nothing Geoff. You taught me a lesson.

I'm very sorry that I disappointed you. I'm currently rather busy on a number of other projects at the moment but vgsmail is still there and some people seem to be very happy; others use Flexmail or Exchange. That's a choice that everyone will make based on their individual circumstances.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They are essentially different products and the only reason I am discussing Simple-Email here is because I had a number of questions about them.

My plan with vgsmail is to spend 95% of the time developing it and 5% selling it. If it continues to sell at this level of support then I see no reason for the two products to diverge.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are several other references where you tell us that updates are coming, you are working on things...asking for suggestions....collecting bug reports...why? If you have so many other projects taking up your time how could you be spending 95% of your time on this?....why would you waste our time and make promises when you have so many things at a higher priority?

People bought your program in the hopes you would take the money to support your efforts while continuing to work on the software. Why? Because you sold it to us this way.

Finally, the only time you bother to respond to a message is when you feel you have been tarnished in some way? You could have posted anything weeks ago...saying anything!

Good luck on this project. I think you have a really good application and I think you are missing the boat on getting it to the masses in a more stable environment, but that is just my opinion.

Respectfully,

SJ

I have to pretty much agree with sjudy here...

Everyone here really enjoys this program and I think it could knock the socks off of Exchange or even Flexmail if it continues to be updated and is advertised accordingly (look at the following/devotion Marc Blanc has with ChatterEmail).

Having said that, I don't think people expect updates every week but at least a "roadmap" of some sort and ability to participate in beta testing would be most welcomed.

Personally, I think the system Bruce at Pocketmax.com (developer of PhoneAlarm) has is the best: he releases alphas and betas all the time, responds to requests and his program his updated frequently.

I guess most of us feel kind of lost as to where is all of this heading...

Granted, the program works for me but things like a scheduler, WM5 soft key support, etc would be nice to have along with somewhat regular posts on planned updates.

I too abandoned vgsmail long ago. I am simply using the built in PocketOutlook DirectPush support in WM5 for Exchange. mail2web offers a free exchange account that is compaitible with DirectPush.

I have been following the development of FlexMail 2007 and if works as advertised, it will eventually become the benchmark for IMAP IDLE clients on WM. It seems to include many of the same features as Chatter.

It is close to release. I expect by the end of August. The beta is available as a free download.

Many of the features requested by users of vgsmail are already included in FlexMail 2007 (scheduling, multiple accounts, different reply-to, etc.)

FYI

Perhaps you had better read a bit more closely the post you quoted:

I am still spending 95% of THE time I spend on vgsmail developing it (although responding to forum posts such as this doesn't really count as development but you'll shout at me if I stop doing that). That doesn't mean that I am spending 95% of MY time developing vgsmail. Quite frankly I need to pay the bills and if I relied on vgsmail to do that I would be living on the street a long time ago.

I'm afraid $21.95 doesn't buy you a great deal of 'effort' these days. It might buy you the time I have spent on this post.
