I have a few questions I am using the newest version on the website. (The one that says may not be stable)
1. The only way I can get it to work is if I give it a profile for the outlook Imap account I already have created in poutlook. If I give it another profile it won't even load up. It shows the 4 check boxes and then never loads up?
2. Does this only sync the inbox? If I delete something it doesn't delete it from the server? I actually have to push send/receive to get it removed from the server. Also if I move an email to another of my folders it won't move that either until I press send/receive. Is there a way for it to force a send receive every time it gets a new email? The other problem is that once I press send/receive it re-downloads all the emails that already were pushed to the phone. (Battery and Time Consumption). Maybe I am doing this wrong??
Maybe someone can help me get this installed correctly so I can test prior to buying!

Phil,
Unfortunately there isn't much support here It's a shame, because I am also interested in buying this product if I would just be able to get it working... To my knowledge, this is the only push IMAP client available for Windows Mobile Or does anyone know another?
As you can see in http://forum.vgsmail.com/viewtopic.php?t=526 I also have a simular problem that the program doesn't even start up (shortly shows the checkmark boxes and then closes down). At first, I managed to get it working, but never again later on...
Now that I read your message about the profiles, I remember that the first time I also had a profile in Pocket Outlook, and I added a new one in vgsmail with the same name. However, I received all new mails DOUBLE then (once through Pocket Outlook and once through vgsmail I assume). However, since I read on this forum that the Pocket Outlook profiles should be removed, and then created only from vgsmail, I tried that with all following installs...
So maybe I can get it working by entering twice the same profile name (once in Pocket Outlook, and once in vgsmail)... But don't you get all email double now?
Thanks |

Beanio,
There is another imap idle software for wm5. Its called Webis Flexmail. They have a beta version out now that supports imap idle. (2007). It still has some bugs in it, but once they are all worked out, it is probably the best out there as far as 3rd party email client.
The reason I am so interested in this software is because I don't have to install a large 3rd party software to manage all of my emails, just a small client to tell me when I have new ones.
Hopefully someone responds with answers to my questions, if not Flexmail it is!

Thanks for the tip! Do you mean this one: http://www.webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=mail&dir=wm ? I don't see anything written here about IMAP Idle; and also no downloadable beta versions, unfortunately... Are they publicly available?
EDIT: I just found http://www.pocketinformant.com/Forums/index.php?showtopic=9392 through Google... I'm going to try this out soon!

Yes, it would be nice to have a small "shell" around Pocket Outlook for using IMAP idle, however, since we get no support here, I am better off giving my money to a product that I can get working... |

I've run FM2007 beta (the latest): all I'm saying is that it's going to be a solid push email solution when it goes gold. the beta is already working well probably at 70% (e.g. I and others never got notifications for new IDLE messages).
Personally, I like VGSMails' small footprint and using pOutlook as opposed to replacing, but FM is certainly more powerful (syncs folders) and is more robust.
Plus, yeah hopefully development will be better with FM! |
